Old wiring is a fire hazard. We carry out full and partial rewires across Chelmsford and Essex — certified to the latest 18th Edition standards.
If your home was built before the 1970s or hasn't been rewired in over 25 years, the wiring may be at or past the end of its safe life. Signs include: rubber or fabric-covered cables, round-pin sockets, brown or cream plastic fittings, or a failed EICR report.
A full rewire typically takes 5–10 days depending on the size of the property. We work systematically room by room to minimise disruption. Some redecoration will be needed after — we advise this before we start.
Partial rewires are common when extending a property, converting a loft, or when specific circuits have been flagged on an inspection. We can scope exactly what needs doing and give you a fixed price.
All rewiring work is carried out to the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, notified to Building Control, and you receive an Electrical Installation Certificate on completion.
Will I need to redecorate after a rewire?
Yes — cables run under plaster so some replastering and decoration is needed. We advise on this upfront so there are no surprises.
Do I need to leave the property?
Not necessarily. We can usually work around you, though there will be periods without power. We'll agree a schedule in advance.
How do I know if I need a rewire?
Book an EICR — we'll inspect your installation and tell you exactly what condition it's in and what's needed.
